It is always a fight to recognize and accept that we're in denial, it is an involuntarily process. 

But what really is denial? 

Let's see!

1. It's a coping mechanism that urges us to refuse the reality and accept the perceived nature of events. 

2. It's an unconscious behavior we arrive at, it's like a reflex our body uses to save itself. 

3. It's got to be the best way to fight stressful situations, shame, fear, guilt. PS: I highly despise to make it fight my problems. 

4. It's good only for the short term prospects.

5. In the long way, it becomes a way to lie not only to yourself but to the ones you love the most.
